  • The Oasis on Lake Travis: Known as the “Sunset Capital of Texas,” The Oasis offers breathtaking views of Lake Travis, making it an ideal spot for sunset photos and outdoor dining.
  • Graffiti Park (Hope Outdoor Gallery): This ever-changing graffiti art park is a haven for street art enthusiasts and photographers. The colorful murals and graffiti-covered walls make for great backdrops. The original location downtown closed in 2019 but they are building a new location across from ABIA, which will hopefully open soon. Check their web and insta for more info http://www.hopeoutdoorgallery.com
  • Mount Bonnell: Climb the 102 stairs to the top of Mount Bonnell for panoramic views of the Colorado River and the city skyline. It’s particularly stunning at sunrise or sunset.

  • Barton Springs Pool: This natural spring-fed pool in Zilker Park is perfect for capturing shots of people swimming against a backdrop of lush greenery. Year round water temps are 68-70 degrees. YOU WON’T CATCH ME IN THIS FREEZING WATER!
  • Mozarts Coffee Roasters: Located on Lake Austin, this coffee house puts on the most amazing Christmas light show. It sells out so get your tickets in advance.
  • South Congress Avenue: SoCo, as we call it, is lined with colorful shops, food trucks, and street art, making it a great place for capturing Austin’s quirky atmosphere.
  • The Pennybacker Bridge (Loop 360 Bridge): This iconic bridge offers fantastic views of the Texas Hill Country and the Colorado River. Go during sunset for some breathtaking shots. Please use caution and wear good shoes as it can get a little rocky.
  • Austin Street Art: Austin has a thriving street art scene, and you can find colorful murals and graffiti throughout the city. Check out the Instagram accounts of local street artists for the latest art installations.
My favorite! On Congress and 4th
  • Lady Bird Lake: Rent a kayak or paddleboard and capture the Austin skyline from the water. The reflections in the lake make for stunning shots, especially during sunrise or sunset.

Remember that Austin is a dynamic city, and new Instagram-worthy spots are constantly emerging. There are so many more that I haven’t named here. Explore the local neighborhoods and keep an eye out for hidden gems. Don’t forget to respect private property and obtain permission when needed for photos.
