Plan Ahead:
Book your flights and accommodations well in advance to secure the best prices and availability. Prices seem to be higher during the holiday season so you have to keep an eye out for good deals. Apps like Expedia and Booking.com offer discounted travel. Keep a detailed itinerary, including transportation details, reservations, and important contact information in case of delays and cancellations.
Travel Off-Peak:
Consider flying on off-peak days. We like to fly out on Tuesdays or Thursdays to avoid the crowds. Choose early morning or late-night flights when airports are typically less busy. We prefer overnight flights when traveling abroad. That gives us the entire day when we land to start exploring. Who needs sleep?
Pack Like A Pro:
Pack light and efficiently to avoid excess baggage fees and the hassle of lugging around heavy suitcases. I never check bags. Avoid the fees, waiting for luggage, lost bags, etc. Pack wisely for your Christmas adventure. Include mix and match essentials, holiday-themed accessories, and any gifts you plan to exchange. Stay Connected:
Keep your devices fully charged and bring necessary chargers, power banks, and adapters. Download travel apps like flight tracker for real-time updates on flights and weather. Don’t forget your holiday playlist!
Be Flexible:
Prepare for the unexpected. Have contingency plans for delays or cancellations, such as alternative transportation options or backup accommodations. This is when you’ll be thankful you bought that travel insurance.
Tech Savvy:
Check in online and use digital boarding passes to save time at the airport.
Breeze Through Security:
Learn TSA rules. Liquids in 3-1-1 bags and electronics should be easily accessible for screening. Better yet, if you travel often invest in TSA Precheck or Global Entry.
Spread Holiday Cheer:
Practice patience and kindness, especially in crowded spaces. Travel during the holiday season can be stressful. Allow for extra travel time, especially if you’re flying, and be prepared for potential delays.
