Santorini Flying Dress Photoshoot – Your Guide To An Amazing Photoshoot Experience
Beautiful Santorini. Greece was a dream. The gorgeous white buildings with their iconic blue domes, overlooking the Aegean Sea. It can’t get any more dreamy, right? Yes it can, once you are standing up on one of those rooftops, in your flying dress, feeling like a Greek Goddess. My flying dress photoshoot was a dream come true.
I had seen a celebrity I follow post a picture of her flying dress photoshoot on Instagram and I was immediately obsessed. Coincidentally, we were planning a trip to Greece at the time. I booked my flying dress photoshoot about a month in advance. This was my birthday gift to myself! I planned for early morning, 8 am. Definite pro to this was that there were less crowds. It gets packed in the evening during sunset. Definite con, I couldn’t see a thing. I believe my eyes are closed in nearly every photo.
Fun Fact…my foot is broken in these pics and I didn’t even know!
What to Expect…
It was so hot in August! We walked from our hotel in Firostefani to the meet up location in Imerovigli, which took about twenty five minutes. We chose this location because it was close to our hotel and it had the backdrop I was looking for. There are several locations in Santorini you can choose. By the time I got there my blowout was frizzy and my makeup had melted. Thankfully, I kept everything in my bag for touch ups. There was no saving the hair. My advice is to take a cab or bus if you are far from your location and it is the middle of summer.
I literally undressed and changed under a Bougainville. I chose the pink satin transformer dress, my favorite color. They have around eighty dresses to choose from! I only had an hour booked and everything moved so quickly! Skipping from rooftop to rooftop with my assistant holding my dress for me. I felt like a supermodel. It was actually hard work! A little scary at times as the rooftops were still wet with the morning dew. My photographer and assistant were wonderful. They helped we with posing. I was clueless.
Turnaround Time…
Turnaround time took a while. My shoot was August 26th. I got the proofs back rather quickly, September 13th, but the final edited photos took time. I didn’t receive those until October 19th. Well worth the wait.
Cost…
The cost for the shoot was 560 euros. I chose the mini session and added the assistant. Up front I paid 240 euros for the deposit by credit card and the balance of 320 euros in cash paid at the time of the shoot. This included the cost of the assistant to throw the dress and the rental of the dress (up to 90 euro) as well. Prices have changed some since my shoot in 2021. Overall, I am so happy with how these turned out. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Greece wanting to bring home a very unique and unforgettable memory.
