A Day Trip To Beautiful Brussels, Belgium – Just A Quick Train Ride From Paris

If you are looking for fun day trip from Paris, Brussels, Belgium is a great idea. Just over an hour by train, it is a perfect getaway. Gare du Nord to Brussels Midi is about an 1hr 22min. We use Omio, they are wonderful and easy. Take an early train and give yourself the day to enjoy sightseeing around the city. As you stroll through the city pay attention to the murals painted everywhere!

City Center

First stop is The Sister Brussels Cafe, located by La Grand Place. They have a wonderful gluten free breakfast menu. After you have loaded up on waffles head out to the city square and enjoy the beautiful architecture of La Grand Place. We were able to see a wedding take place while visiting.

Iconic

Head into town and visit the most famous boy in Brussels, Manneken Pis (Little Man Pee). You’ll find him on the corner of Rue Du Chene and Rue De L’Etuve. He is a sculpture fountain of a naked boy peeing. The townspeople dress him up for special occasions. He was dressed up and ready to party while we were there. They were definitely having a celebration of some sort!

Visit the Royal Museum of Fine Arts. My favorite Painting there is “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, painted in 1562. They have many sculptures and works of art you are sure to enjoy.

Beautiful Nature

Stroll through Parc de Bruxelles, Warandepark. A beautiful park by the Royal Palace. Full of statues, shade trees, and fountains. Grab a snack and have a picnic.

Culture

Also head to the Royal Quarter and Garden du Mont des Arts. We accidentally stumbled upon this and it is a definite gem. Maybe you’ll get lucky and find someone playing live music like we did.

If you have time, visit the Palais de Justice de Bruxelles. The courts of Brussels. Since working with the courts is my day job I love to see other courthouses. Unfortunately, it was closed on our visit but the outside was beautiful. There is a ferris wheel, The View, just outside where you’ll get amazing views of the city.

Must Have Waffles

Before you leave head to Veganwaf, located near La Grand Place. It took me a while to find it, located in the little shopping center Galerie Agora. It was worth it. The best gluten free waffle I have ever had. No, the best waffle period!

Don’t forget to grab some Belgian Chocolate to take home!!
