How To Choose Where To Stay

Paris is divided into 20 arrondissements that spiral outwards from the city center. Each has its own unique charm and character. Whether you’re looking for lively nightlife, historic charm, or artistic vibes, there is an arrondissement to suit every taste and preference.

First, think about what you want to do and see in Paris. Are you an art lover seeking inspiration? Montmartre might be the ideal choice with its artistic vibes and stunning views.

Next, consider your budget. Some arrondissements, like the Champs-Élysées, that are known for luxury shopping and upscale boutiques are priced higher. Think about how much you’re willing to spend on accommodations, dining, and entertainment.

Lastly, consider the atmosphere you prefer. Are you looking for a lively nightlife scene? Le Marais might be the arrondissement for you. Do you enjoy a bohemian vibe and vibrant student life? The Latin Quarter might be your cup of tea.

1st Arrondissement of Paris

The 1st arrondissement of Paris is located in the heart of the city and happens to be one of my favorites. It is situated on the right bank of the River Seine and is known for its historical significance, iconic landmarks, and vibrant atmosphere.

The first arrondissement is home to the iconic Louvre Museum, best known for housing the famous lady Mona Lisa. You will also find the beautiful Tuileries Gardens, stretched between the Louvre and Place de la Concorde. It is a beautiful place to relax and read a book. Rue de Rivoli runs through the first with shops, plenty of cafes, and beautiful architecture. The royal chapel of Sainte-Chapelle is located in the 1st. The beautiful gothic style architecture is a must-see. The first arrondissement is full of the charm and elegance you expect when you think of Paris.

3rd and 4th Arrondissements of Paris

The Marais is one of the most sought-after arrondissements in Paris, and it’s easy to see why. This historic district is brimming with charm, from its cobblestone streets to its elegant mansions and beautiful squares.

If you are an art lover here you’ll find the Pompidou Centre, France’s modern art collection, and Musee Picasso, where you can see some of his best paintings.

With its combination of historic charm, trendy shops, and charming cafes, the Marais is the perfect arrondissement for those who want to be right in the heart of Parisian culture and style.

The Latin Quarter is a vibrant and lively district in Paris thanks to the numerous art galleries, theaters, and music venues that line the sidewalks. This arrondissement is known for its bohemian atmosphere and is a haven for artists, writers, and intellectuals.

One of the main highlights of the Latin Quarter is its thriving student population. You’ll find plenty of young people, lively cafes, and budget-friendly dining options in the area.

You’ll find narrow medieval streets, charming bookshops like Shakespeare and Company, and iconic landmarks like the Panthéon and the Luxembourg Gardens. This combination of history, creativity, and youthful energy makes the Latin Quarter an exciting arrondissement to explore during your time in Paris.

When it comes to finding the perfect balance between intellectual stimulation and luxury shopping, look no further than the beautiful arrondissement of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Known for its rich literary history and upscale boutiques, this district is a haven for culture enthusiasts and fashionistas alike.

Saint-Germain-des-Prés has long been associated with the world of literature and art. In the 1920s, renowned writers such as Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald frequented famous cafés like Café de Flore and Les Deux Magots. Even today, the area exudes an intellectual vibe, with bookstores and publishing houses lining its charming streets.

7th Arrondissement of Paris

The 7th arrondissement in Paris is one of the central districts, located on the left bank of the River Seine. This is where we stayed on our last visit and I loved the area. Its central location, beautiful architecture, and proximity to major landmarks contribute to its reputation as one of the most prestigious and sought-after neighborhoods in Paris.

It is known for its iconic landmark, the Eiffel Tower. Built in 1889, she stands on the Champ de Mars and is a symbol of Paris. Speaking of Champ de Mars, the lovely green space that stretches in front of the Eiffel Tower, is the perfect place for a champagne picnic. On our last visit, we brought a bottle of champagne and watched the sunset behind the Eiffel Towel and it was breathtaking!

The 7th is also home to Musee d’Orsay, one of my favorite museums. It was once a former railway station and now houses amazing Impressionist artwork.

When it comes to experiencing luxury in Paris, the Champs-Élysées is the arrondissement to stay in. This iconic district is known for its high-end shopping and glamorous atmosphere, making it a haven for fashionistas and luxury enthusiasts.

The main attraction of the Champs-Élysées is, of course, the world-famous avenue itself. Stretching from the Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde, the Champs-Élysées is lined with designer boutiques, flagship stores, and luxury brands. One of my favorite museums, La Galerie Dior is here and is a must if you are a fashion lover.

But the Champs-Élysées isn’t just about shopping. This district is also home to some of Paris’s most iconic landmarks, including the Arc de Triomphe and the Grand Palais. Take a leisurely stroll along the avenue and soak up the grandeur of these architectural masterpieces.

In the evening, the Champs-Élysées comes alive with its vibrant nightlife. From upscale bars to elegant restaurants, there are plenty of options for a night out on the town. I highly recommend Little Nonna for some amazing Gluten Free Italian!

When it comes to experiencing the artistic soul of Paris, look no further than Montmartre. This vibrant district is bursting with artistic vibes and offers stunning views. From the iconic Sacré-Cœur Basilica perched atop the hill to the charming cobbled streets lined with quaint cafes and art studios, every corner of Montmartre exudes a sense of inspiration and creativity.

The district is home to a lively nightlife scene, with bars, cabarets, and jazz clubs where you can dance the night away. Indulge in the energy of this expressive neighborhood as you sip on a glass of wine and listen to the soulful melodies that fill the air. Also located in the 18th, district of Pigalle, is a famous cabaret, you might have heard of, Moulin Rouge.
